  •  Born in Port Huron and   raised in a hard-working professional family. Mark married his high school sweetheart while away at college. Mark and Susan decided to set down roots in Rochester Hills where they have lived for over 30 years and successfully raised their family.

  •  Despite his recent dive into politics, Mark didn’t ever plan on running for office. After being approached to fill a vacancy on the Rochester Hills City Council, he has been supported by the voters for eight years and chosen to serve as council president for four. Mark’s experience from elected office and running a successful small business developed him into the leader we need for our community.

  • For more than 22 years, Mark has been singing at local weddings, funerals, and charity benefit concerts in the Rochester area. Through his music, he has been able to connect with thousands of people and hear what’s truly important to our community. Mark knows there are times when someone needs to stand up and fight for our values which he will continue defending in Lansing.

  • 2021 Legislator of the Year: Michigan Restaurant and Lodging Association. 
  • 2022 Legislator of the Year: Small Business Association of Michigan. 
  • Tisdel Amendment restored $360,000,000 in federal school equalization funds and will deliver$15,000,000 to Rochester Community Schools.
  • Signed into law "One and Done" tax simplification for manufacturing.
  • Signed into law tax transparency for rental construction equipment.
  • $500,00 grant Innovation Hills
  • $100,00 grant for Common Ground Oxford High School counseling

  •  Guided Approval of landfill cleanup and luxury apartment development at Adams & Hamlin 
  •  Guided approval of Premier Academy development at Tienken and Adams. 
  • Designed Police funding PPT for City website. Ballot issue passed.
  •  Initiated, Designed and Led passage of City Council Fund Balance Standards     
  • Initiated and Led passage of City Council Resident Committee Member Standards 
  • Chaired Award-Winning Eddington Blvd Realignment / Traffic Signal Council Study Group  Worked with RH Gov't Youth Council, Dep Clerk Scott, and YC Liaison Charnele Sanders to develop a culture of achievement.

  •  Worked with Dep Clerk Scott to coordinate Faithworks home improvement efforts with OPC and Neighborhood House  
  • Worked with Pine Trace GM Mike Bylen to create the Summer Golf Scholarship for RCS students.  
  •  Selected to serve on the Rochester College MBA advisory board. 
  •  Member of the City Clerk selection committee that hired Clerk Tina Barton. 
  • Wrote nomination letter for 2016 Michigan Clerk of the Year (Clerk Tina Barton, winner).
  •  Initiated, designed and led the passage of Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) enabling ordinance.
